An 8 inch dewatering pump is designed for projects where large volumes of groundwater, rainwater or accumulated site water need to be removed continuously. For construction, infrastructure, excavation, drainage and groundwater-control projects in Bahrain, an 8 inch pump can provide higher water-transfer capacity while remaining practical for temporary project use. The TARIS TS 200 is an 8 × 8 inch automatic self-priming centrifugal dewatering pump designed for construction dewatering, groundwater control, drainage, mining, flood control and general water transfer. Its reference performance reaches up to 550 m³/h flow, 38 m head, 8 m suction lift and 70 CFM vacuum capacity.
The basic pumping process is: Water Source → Suction Line → Pump → Discharge Line → Discharge Point The pump creates suction on the inlet side, draws water through the suction hose and transfers it through the pump casing. Inside the pump, the rotating impeller adds energy to the water. The pump casing then directs that water toward the discharge connection. The result is continuous water movement from a lower or unwanted area to a suitable discharge location.
Before a surface pump can move water effectively, air in the suction line needs to be removed. An automatic self-priming or vacuum-assisted system helps create the suction required to bring water toward the pump. This is especially important for: Excavations, groundwater lowering, wellpoint systems and construction pits. The TS 200 reference model has a 70 CFM vacuum capacity and is designed for dry self-prime and rapid reprime operation.
Once sufficient suction is established, water moves through the suction hose toward the pump. The TS 200 uses an 8 inch × 8 inch (200 × 200 mm) suction and discharge configuration. Its stated maximum suction lift is 8 metres, although actual site performance depends on installation conditions and system losses. A properly sized suction hose, strainer and leak-free connection are important because air leaks on the suction side can reduce pump performance.
When water reaches the pump, the rotating impeller accelerates it. The TS 200 can be configured with closed, semi-open or open impeller options, allowing the pump arrangement to be matched more closely to the application. The pump can also handle solids depending on configuration, making it useful for construction water that may contain suspended material.
After passing through the pump, water exits through the 8 inch discharge connection. The discharge system may use: Layflat hose, pipeline, flanged connections, couplings, reducers or temporary discharge arrangements. The final performance depends not only on the pump but also on discharge distance, elevation, hose diameter, bends and friction losses. This is why a pump should always be selected using flow + total head, not simply by saying “I need an 8 inch pump.”
For the TARIS TS 200 reference model:
Maximum Flow: 550 m³/h
Maximum Head: 38 m
Maximum Suction Lift: 8 m
Vacuum Capacity: 70 CFM
Maximum Solids Handling: 2 in / 3 in
Pump Connection: 8 × 8 inch
The reference diesel package uses a Kirloskar HA 494, 4-cylinder air-cooled engine rated at 52 HP at 1800 RPM, with electric starting.
These are maximum/reference values. Actual operating flow depends on the required head and system arrangement.
Construction and infrastructure projects in Bahrain can require reliable temporary pumping where excavation water, groundwater or unexpected water accumulation affects site activity. For projects in Manama, Hidd, Sitra, Riffa, Muharraq and other Bahrain locations, an 8 inch dewatering pump may be suitable when the project requires a combination of high flow, strong suction and continuous pumping capability. The correct pump should still be selected according to the specific duty rather than location alone.
A complete dewatering setup can include: Suction Hose → Strainer → Pump → NRV / Valve → Discharge Hose → Sedimentation or Discharge Point Depending on the project, TARIS can also support layflat hoses, steel-wire suction hoses, fittings, couplings, reducers, header pipes, wellpoints, valves and sedimentation tanks. Correct accessories help the pump operate closer to its intended performance.
It is commonly used for high-volume construction dewatering, groundwater control, excavation drainage, floodwater removal and general water transfer.
Capacity depends on the pump model and total head. The TARIS TS 200 reference model has a maximum stated flow of 550 m³/h.
A suitable self-priming or vacuum-assisted 8 inch pump can support wellpoint systems when its vacuum, flow and operating characteristics match the system requirement.
The TS 200 specification lists 2 inch / 3 inch maximum solids-handling options, depending on configuration.
It can be suitable for continuous dewatering when the pump is correctly selected, installed and maintained for the required operating duty.
